James Rogers is an international arbitration lawyer based in London. His experience extends across a broad range of industry sectors and includes commercial, technology, M&A, licensing and joint venture disputes, with particular experience of the energy, infrastructure and construction sectors.
James has practiced law in New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan and the UK and has advised clients in relation to projects and investments in numerous jurisdictions across North America, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and particularly Asia. He has also represented clients in many of the major arbitral centres of the world and is familiar with the arbitration rules of all the leading arbitration institutions. His is a uniquely international practice, serving clients’ needs across multiple jurisdictions as the relevant project, dispute and/or seat of arbitration requires.
Until 2016, James was based in our Hong Kong office. While in Hong Kong, James was listed as one of only seven Leading Individuals for International Arbitration in Hong Kong by the 2016 Asia Pacific edition of the Legal 500. James is also ranked as a leading lawyer by Chambers & Partners which noted that, “Clients commend his ability to understand the technical side of disputes, as well as his in-depth procedural knowledge and responsiveness. Norton Rose Fulbright won the Asialaw Asia-Pacific International Arbitration Firm of the Year 2015, profiling a number of James’ cases, including the successful defence of the first ever hearing of an HKIAC emergency arbitration application with US$800m in dispute.
James also accepts arbitrator appointments and rendered the first award ever issued by the CIETAC Hong Kong Sub-commission.
