Sell-side focus

Seminar

October 3, 2018

The partners of the Norton Rose Fulbright LLP financial services team invite you to their latest breakfast briefing.

Our breakfast briefings provide insight, practical knowledge and information, and act as a forum for sharing views and advice.

The briefings are likely to be of particular value to senior and middle management within financial institutions with responsibility for compliance, capital markets, investment management, legal, risk and trading.

Programme

Regulation has become the driving force for sell-side institutions – looming in the background to influence every key business decision. Recent key regulatory reforms that have been on the sell-side agenda include MiFID II’s impact on commodities and commodity derivatives trading and the Benchmarks Regulation. But like the buy-side, regulatory reform marches on for the sell-side. The European Commission’s first set of EMIR review proposals set out a limited number of changes designed to address specific issues identified in the review, although many of these will have significant impact on market participants. A further set of legislative proposals are designed to enhance the supervision of CCPs and in the context of Brexit these include proposals for enhanced EU supervision and/or location requirements for third country CCPs that play a systemic role in EU markets.

  • The latest on markets infrastructure: SIs and trading platforms
  • Practicalities of voice and electronic trading in the new world
  • EMIR review
  • Benchmarks Regulation: definition and scope issues
  • Commodities
